Understanding the Course Schedule

The 2025 summer course schedule will be available in late January.

If you are a visiting student: You can view which courses will be offered in each session this summer by checking our summer course list. Once you find the course you want, then check the static course schedule for details about the meeting days/times, the instructional method (online vs. on campus) and location, if applicable. After you have applied and been admitted, you will be able to access more detailed scheduling information including seat availability and assigned instructors by logging into the portal, my.UIC.edu.

If you are a current UIC student: You can access the 2024 summer schedule by logging into my.UIC.edu. Use the search bar or scroll through the page to find “XE Registration,” and once there click on “Browse Classes.”

You can find the following details about summer courses when you check XE Registration (login required):

  • Instructional method (whether the class is online, on campus, or hybrid). See this glossary of instructional methods for details.
  • Class meeting days, times and location
  • Real-time enrollment information
  • Instructor name and contact information
  • Book list
  • Course prerequisites
  • Restricted courses and courses requiring permission to register

Tips when you are searching the schedule:

  • Pay close attention to course meeting times in your search results. 4-week session courses will have a start date/end date of “05/19/2025″ and “06/13/2025” while 8-week session courses’ start date/end date will be “06/16/2025” and “08/08/2025.”
  • If you only want to see 4-week courses in your search results, use “Advanced Search” and select “Summer Session 1” in the drop menu for “Part of Term.”
  • If you only want to see 8-week courses in your search results, use “Advanced Search” and select “Summer Session 2” in the drop menu for “Part of Term.”
  • Courses that have multiple linked components such as a lecture, plus discussion, lab, or quiz will display “LINKED” in the status column. The meeting times for these courses are the combined days and times for the different linked options.
